What a flipping great pancake festival we had in St Albans!
32 teams from local Businesses and organisations competed for the prestigious winning trophies
Competition was fierce, but Private Fly claimed the title as winners of the running race, as they flew over the finish line. (picture above)
Manpower walked away with the winning trophy for the walking race.
The festival continued with an afternoon of family activities and entertainment, and a raffle with some fantastic prizes from local business.
With the support of co-organisers The Herts Business Independent and our sponsors SA Law, the event raised over £2000.

The annual pancake race is now in its eighth year and it continues to be a popular and exciting event. This is the second year that Home-Start Hertfordshire will be running the event, in conjunction with The Hertfordshire Business Independent, after taking it over from SADC in 2016.
The races are always exciting and tension mounts as up to 20 teams battle it out to see who will be crowned the flipping champions; however this year the fun and games will not stop there!
As Shrove Tuesday falls within the half term holiday,it’s a great opportunity to turn the event into an all-day festival of pancakes. The traditional races will take place as usual but they will be followed from 2-4pm by an afternoon of children’s entertainment and activities, including:
- mini flipping races
- entertainers from wish-upon-a-party
- music and games by Gymboree
- face painters
- a craft tent run by St Albans BID .
Last year we raised over £950, which was fantastic, and we hope that not only will the afternoon be a lot of fun, but will raise even more, much needed funds to support Local families.
Teams are made up of four people and it costs £40 to register.
