HOME-START schemes across Hertfordshire are urging you to Share Your Snowflake as part of their Snowflake Appeal.
Take a snowflake-themed photo – a pretty view, a Christmas decoration, face-painting, snowflake icing on a cake, Christmas trees, decorated houses – and share it on Facebook and Twitter. Then challenge your friends to do the same to show your support for Home-Start in Hertfordshire.
For every snowflake that is shared, Home-Start is hoping you can donate £3, £5, £10 or more to the campaign. Just text SNOW26 £3 or the amount you want to the number 70070.
Each family helped by Home-Start is as unique and fragile as a snowflake. Home-Start volunteers support each family through times of difficulty.
Home-Start Stevenage manager Maggie Charles said: “Help us fight our funding crises and keep Home-Start across Hertfordshire – don’t let it melt away.
“We’re hoping this campaign will captivate the imagination of people across the country, whether you’re a young child making a paper snowflake, a budding chef cooking up snowflake goodies, or someone who loves crafts and making things.
“We have never tried a campaign like this before, so we are very interested to see how people react to it. We hope people will find it fun, and a great way of helping families-in-need in their local areas.”
The campaign is one part of the charity’s Snowflake Appeal, launched to raise money for local families going through a difficult time in their life.
Home-Start has nine schemes across Hertfordshire and is a voluntary organisation which offers emotional support, friendship and practical help to families with at least one child aged under five.
Its valuable body of volunteers support parents in a variety of situations including isolation, poverty, bereavement, multiple births, illness or disability.
